Greek Island Choices

Greek Island Choices - According to a report on the Travelweekly site, the lesser known Greek Islands are a smart holiday alternative to the usual old favourites. They recommend swapping out the fave islands and destinations for those a little less packed, yet stunningly beautiful, for a great holiday break.

The site suggests Kos for families where there is plenty going on and decent public transport between the resorts - plus the bonus of really good family entertainment. For those on a romantic getaway, why not skip Santorini and head instead for the small island of Meganissi, which is near Lefkas. Lovely quiet cafes, tavernas and plenty of coves without another person in sight.

Whilst the ever popular island of Mykonis is a hotspot for those who love nightlife and partying, Travelweekly rates fabulous Rhodes for its bars and discos. Not into a fast nightlife and seeking a bit more relaxation without the party people? Most people would head for Halkidiki but Samos would be an equally good bet. There are lots of small fishing villages away from the madding crowd and some wonderful walks.

Culture vultures should go for Crete which will satisfy anyone's history desires. Architecture and culture abound and some places remain virtually unchanged by time.
