Our Favourite Things About the Summer

E-mail Print
summerSummer is upon us once again! Most of us can agree that we love the summer. What is not to love? Unlike other Northern European countries, you can generally guarentee a great summer in Greece, which means that it's a season of sun, sea and fun! Many foreigners who choose to relocate abroad, often pick a home in the country side or by the sea. Both areas have one thing in common, which is that they both boost people's moods and make people more possitive and happy! So, whether you're feeling all set for summer or perhaps you are having a bad time, let's remember all of our favourite things about the summer.

Less Washing
If you despise doing the household chores such as washing clothes, then no doubt you'll be eagerly awaiting the summer time. As a rule, we generally wear less clothes than in the colder months, which means that you won't have to wash heavy clothes such as coats, jeans and jumpers. If you plan to spend your summer on the beach or by the pool, then just imagine how much work is involved in washing any kind of swimwear, it really takes no time at all! Less washing means less chores and that means that you can have more 'me' time.

Vitamin D
The sun is the best source of vitamin D that you can get, so make the most of it during the summer. By this I mean that you should have a reasonable amount of time in the sun each day, but don't over do it. Like many things, less is more because spending too much time in the sun can lead to other problems too. Be sensible and remember that a little sun is good for you and helps boost you mood too much however, is likely to damage your skin and will certainly have the opposite effect as far as your mood is concerned!

Less Layers
During the winter months, some people just simply can't put on enough layers of clothing without feeling the cold. Sometimes we may struggle to move with the amount of clothing we are wearing, but it's better than feeling the chill. Not all of us suffer from being overly sensitive to the cooler weather, but you're sure to notice the difference in the summer time. Thankfully in the summer time, we don't have to wear so many layers of clothing and are more than comfortable in light weight summer clothes. Dressing in summer is quicker, easier and more comfortable.

A Breath of Fresh Air
Due to the summer season bringing such lovely weather, it means that you are more likely to spend a higher amount of your time outdoors. Rather than sitting watching the TV, you are more likely to go out for a walk, go to the beach or even sit in the garden. Getting out of the house and breathing in some fresh air is healthy for your body and mind and will make you feel much better.

Ice-cream
If you have a sweet tooth or have a fetish for ice-cream, then take time to enjoy it over the next few months. It is funny how ice-cream can seem more than appealing in the summer yet, it is completely unappetising in the winter. Obviously it has a lot to do with the weather, which is a major factor of course. Give yourself a treat and a change and swap your chocolate treat for ice-cream.

Sun, Sea and Sand
If you star sign is a water sign, then you'll be happy to know that the summer means there are plenty of oppurtunities to go to the sea. Greece is home to many fabulous beaches, so take the chance to swim in the sea, relax on the beach and enjoy the sun.
